Who We Are

our Mission

New Community is a place of becoming where together we are committed to extravagant welcome and engaging in the ongoing story of Jesus.

Doctrine

Our doctrine is purposely short, purposely simple, and purposely central to the Christian faith: the Apostle's Creed. If you would like to discuss our doctrinal beliefs in more detail we'd be happy to grab a coffee and talk further.

We believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ,
God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*catholic refers to the universal body of Christ (the church)

Our Values

  • Together

    We believe that life with Jesus is best experienced in relationship with others. Together we seek to embody radical acceptance, abundant generosity, unconditional forgiveness and sacrificial love.

  • Engage

    To be present and open to seeing God in each other and to be actively participating in the community is at the center of what it means for us to engage. We aspire to be a people that love well in the heart of the city.

  • Become

    We believe the way of Jesus is an invitation into peace. To become our most transformed selves opens us to the movement of restoration in our own lives and inspires us to be a part of this movement in Spokane.

LGBTQ+ Belonging

We welcome and invite LGBTQ+ persons and families to full participation in all levels of community, partaking in sacraments, serving in ministry, joining in mission, and holding leadership roles as they are called.
